lget upgrade

For those of you wondering what is going on with lget, don’t worry I still plan to update it for the upcoming Firefox 1.5. I haven’t had much time lately but I think I should see an opening of free time soon.

In the mean time, I haven’t had much time to look at the extension/internal changes on 1.5, does anyone know what replaced installed-chrome.txt and chrome.rdf to run an unpackaged Firefox? :D

Edit: For those of you wondering, chrome.rdf and installed-chrome.txt were replaced by manifest files in the chrome directory. In the case of browser core components Example: chrome/browser.manifest, In the case of extensions, they are specified in chrome.rdf in the profile’s chrome directory.

Does anyone know where to get a cheap mortgage loan?

When you find some time to upgrade your extension, it would be great if you could integrate Czech locales – http://forum.czilla.cz/viewtopic.php?t=9118

For chrome registration changes see http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Chrome_Registration

Waiting patiently for an update to lget. That’s an L, not an I. Great extension, by the way. Message to all: Just changing max version in install.rdf doesn’t work for all. Doesn’t work for me. (Fx 1.5, OS X).

  30. harl says:

    hello then..

as we’re already on it: i’m curious, why you (as in means of “the author of the extension”) did have to make it a 29 entries cap for the history of addresses stored for the plugin ?
at least its not working for me with anything higher than 29 and i guess it’s not just me. so is that only something.. one of those many things in the various world of programs having drifted out of a programmer’s view on a list of things to do (or not do at all anyway) or is that done intentionally because of some freaky compatibility or programmability issue..
you could as well make it a cap at 5000 or just leave it to an indefinite quantity. maybe it even shouldn’t go beyond a certain amount of entries (let’s say 50000), but 29 ? please ? from my point of view that’s just not enough for nearly anyone.
where’s the point in.. restraining the user at such a thing, anyways -if it was an intentional thing-. and besides of stating some common (sometimes surely granted to be useful) principles in general, like “don’t take up too many of a computer’s resources” and things like that, please don’t let an otherwise quite useful extension (my gratitudes at this point) pitch off to occasionally not being user-friendly enough. right ? let it at least be a 500 or something like that, even if firefox needs a few milliseconds longer to startup, ok ? could you please integrate a change for that in the next version ? (I couldn’t locate a setting for it in the files of the extension on my own, so i’m obviously not good enough for doing this change myself. else i guess i wouldn’t have asked for it.)

  31. addi elding says:

maaannnn, when are you going to fix lget…

  32. Hans says:

Will there ever be a lget-update?!

  33. loconet says:

    harl:

I was not aware of the limitiation, I originally coded it with no limitiation so I’m not sure why it would stop at 29. it might be a problem with the way I’m using the framework’s RDF services to store the history. I agree, “29″ is not enough for anyone. Thank you for the feedback, I will take a look at the problem.

    To everyone else:

My apologies for the delay. I have just moved to a new place and haven’t had time to update the extension as I was still settling in but I’m confident that I will get to the update within the next few days. i *hope* :p

    Thanks for the feedback.

  34. David says:

Thanks for the update. the work is greatly appreciated. waiting with baited breath for the update.

  35. Dogman from Outer Space says:

I too am looking forward to the release of the updated Iget for Firefox 1.5 – what a handy extension and there doesn’t seem to be anything else like it! I can understand the delay though.

Good luck with the new place and I hope that nothing is broken or lost. Moving can be such a drag!

    Cheers!

  36. Scott says:

It’s been 2 1/2 months since you posted this entry. It’s January 21, 2005 and still no lget….
