So I finally decided to take a vacation! I’m heading off to Europe to see my girl tomorrow all I’m hoping for as of this moment is for Air Canada not to mess up my tickets and/or suitcases as they are known to. Unfortunately these were the cheapest tickets I could find.

It should be a cool trip regardless. I’m starting in Ireland then England, then back to Ireland then off to Belgium, Holland and France. I seriously can’t wait. In holland I’ll be attending Sensation White in Amsterdam which should be a kick ass party although I’m not too happy with the dj lineup, but we’ll see..

Things haven’t changed much since the last time I updated this little spot on the internet. Summer is here and I thought this place needed a new look, so I decided to take the knowledge I’ve gained these past few months and test it out on a real life project of my own. So here it is, a standard compliant, all css page. I went for a more stylish light blogging type of look inspired by a combination of sites I’ve seen lately.

Some of the new features I’ve added besides the new look are better navigation, download management of my various project files as well as a pretty straight forward photo gallery that I’ll be using to put up any interesting photos i come across. Another interesting addition to the homepage is the blog entries are now read from an atom compliant xml file instead of the old text file way, the only extra feature I wish it had is spell checker and grammar correction, because as you can see I am really sad at both when I write something quick. Even though it is a lot cleaner, I’ll try to move it to the db and instead generate an atom/rss feed as it is meant to be used.

One thing that I learned when developing this new look and applying the new tableless approach is the importance of web standards and how much it can be achieved if browsers implement it properly. I also learned how much more I hate MS IE and how it breaks and implements standards poorly. To view this site at its best I recommend a standards compliant browser like Mozilla or Firefox.

Looks like we now have 2 marsrovers on Mars. Great work NASA/JPL!

Well, I finally got some time to update this little website and do some updates to my resume. I’m still working at Commercial Design & Multimedia, I got hired full-time ..woohoo. Things are going well on that end, the various projects keeps me busy all day. I’m learning a lot.

I received a call from some brain hunter from my college. The lady on the phone said she liked this website but it’s too casual. she doesn’t like the way I express myself on its pages. Dear lady from the phone call, this site is not suppose to be a formal presentation of myself (that’s what my resume is for), but rather a little place where I type out what is on my mind, post some ideas, share info I’ve found, show various things I’m working on, etc. You don’t like it? well .. I’m not really interested in working with someone so closed minded anyways.

Things on vennix are going a bit slow, and since I can’t stay still, I need to work on something (If you can help me out on keeping me busy with some work, let me know: loconet at gmail dot com). I’m currently developing a tech support system using PHP. Allows customers and technicians to file and manage tech support tickets for web accounts, colocated servers, dedicated servers, etc. This project will be used by an upcoming ISP (EgoNetworks) in a few months.

Nothing new, currently maintaining vennix.com and working on a new project with a wireless company in Toronto (same guys who brought you nakedwireless.ca mentioned here.) I get to design and implement the client control system they’ll be using when providing free wireless network access in selected Toronto locations.

After three years of suffering, long nights of hard work, about 5000L of Coffee, I’m finally done CPA at Seneca! Wohooo. I’ll miss it indeed….

Wow, school is killing me.. I don’t know who told me to take all those crazy courses ..and now I’m marking assignments too? Why do i torture myself? ..I haven’t updated this page for a while, but now that I got a few seconds to breath, I’ll spend them here. As requested by my MFC professor, I’ve added my solution to an assignment I recently completed. Check it out in the projects section.

School has started so I really don’t have time to add more stuff to this site, but I’ll be adding a major JAVA project to the projects page before school ends if time allows.
